The level of spot market prices is derived from the hourly prices and volumes of all electricity exchanges.
The volume-weighted hourly price is calculated as follows in accordance with Section 3 No. 42a EEG:
- The trading volume (sum of buy and sell volumes for the German price zone) of the respective electricity exchange is multiplied by the corresponding price of the respective electricity exchange for each hour.
- The sum of these amounts is divided by the sum of the trading volumes of all electricity exchanges in that hour.
The figures are shown in ct/kWh, rounded to three decimal places to enable easy comparison with the energy source-specific market values for electricity from onshore and offshore wind turbines and solar energy systems.
Information: Until the publication of the energy source-specific market values for the respective month, the values shown are preliminary data. In the course of calculating the market value, the spot market price is checked again and corrected if necessary. Publication takes place at the beginning of the following month.
Since 2021, we have published the spot market prices pursuant to Section 3 No. 42a EEG in accordance with Annex 1 No. 5.2 a); for previous periods, the hourly contracts of the international electricity exchange EPEX SPOT based in Paris are published in accordance with Annex 1 to the EEG 2017 point 3.2 a).
