EEG financing requirements 2025

Since 2023, funding for renewable energies has no longer been provided via the EEG surcharge, but from federal budget funds.

The financing requirements for this are determined annually in advance in accordance with the Energy Financing Act (EnFG). The financing covers the difference between the income and expenditure of the transmission system operators in accordance with Annex 1 of the EnFG.

In accordance with Section 51 (1) EnFG, the transmission system operators publish the EEG financing requirements for 2025 on their joint website by October 25, 2024.

The EEG financing requirement for 2025 amounts to EUR 17.030 billion without taking into account the account balance to be applied.

The EEG account balance as at 31.12.2024 was forecast at € 0.500 billion.
